Innocence Canada Installation

KBS Canada

SilverProducts and Services - Best in Public Service

Innocence Canada identifies and advocates for those who sit behind bars for a crime they did not commit. However, funding for the org has been drying up. So, working with KBS, it created the “12 Years Stolen” installation - a chilling portrait that would encourage people to donate to its cause. The exhibit showcased a mosaic of images of moments stolen from Ron Dalton, a man who was wrongfully convicted of murder. From camping trips to birthdays, all of the family photos were void of Ron as he sat in prison. When viewed from one perspective, the combined photos create a portrait of Ron before he was arrested, while the other side shows him after his release. People took notice, with Innocence Canada seeing an 18% increase in donations following the exhibition. More importantly, the government of Ontario is also providing a large sum to the organization over the next three years so that no more moments can be stolen from those wrongfully convicted.
