Netflix has a feature that allows subscribers to download their favourite movies and shows, which they can then watch online. Since 90% of Canada’s cottagers don’t have access to high-speed internet when they go away, the brand decided to target this group by offering them a “Netflix Download Zone.” Working with UM, the brand set up internet zones in high traffic areas on various cottage country routes. A green screen experience also allowed consumers to insert themselves into their favourite Netflix scenes. The brand launched co-branded spots on Breakfast Television before long weekends, and used Cottage Country 680News traffc reports and Rogers geo-text alerts to remind people to download their favourite Netflix shows before they go “out of service.”
