Toronto roads are some of the most congested in North America. So much time is lost to the monotony of sitting in traffic. With the dream of driverless cars yet to materialize, Metrolinx and GO Transit saw an opportunity to stave off a five-year decline in public transit ridership with “Find Your GO Time,” which positioned transit as the hands-free commuting option of today. To launch the campaign, a full-size bus was staged like a slick new “autonomous” car launch at the 2019 Canadian International Auto Show and a new PRESTO app was released giving consumers flexibility and control to easily load funds, manage payments, track receipts and transactions. A targeted digital campaign aimed at converting downloads bested expectations by 250% and GO experienced an 8% jump in ridership.
