These days consumers can customize everything from their car to their coffee and their... fridge? Appliances haven’t typically been included in the made-for-you culture of customization. Recognizing the gap, GE appliance brand Café launched a line that allowed people to design the perfect gear for their kitchen. Café started with an influencer campaign that included Queer Eye food expert Antoni Porowski, Marilyn Dennis and Top Chef Canada, and followed that with digital advertising that segmented audiences by the country’s toniest postal codes. Café communicated its customization proposition through the most clickable of digital media tools: a personality quiz. Finally, a Facebook AR app allowed people to play designer in their own kitchen. It all resulted in over 100 million impressions and sizzling sales that surpassed forecasts by 42%.
